Library Book Haul

Hello there! This week has marked the official start of summer for me and my family. We flew over to the US on Monday and have 7 busy weeks ahead of us, visiting friends and family. The beginning of the summer holidays marks the beginning of plenty of time to read – which is a wonderful thing in my opinion! šŸ˜€ One thing I love about the US is the size of their libraries, and, as you may have expected, I have already been to the library to stock up on reading material for the coming weeks!

So this week I thought you might like to get a glimpse into some of the books I got from the library. A library book haul, if you wish. šŸ™‚ So let’s dive in! šŸ˜€

I read the first book in this this series, The Meeting Place, a while ago. So it was a nice surprise to find the next four books at the library! I like completing series. xD

the-penderwicks-in-springThe Penderwicks series was a surprisingly delightful read for my family this year.Ā  We loved reading the first one together, and now that we found the rest of the series at the library, I’m sure they will be devoured with as much relish as the previous ones have been. šŸ˜€

spitfireI randomly found this book as I was perusing the library shelves, and thought it looked interesting. I love being able to just take a book on a whim like that – it doesn’t happen very often during the school year (#notime :D), or in our English libraries (that are sadly lacking in comparison to the US ones).

waves of mercyI’m a huge Lynn Austin fan, and so I was very happy to find this book, as it is one of the few by her that I haven’t read! I’m excited to dive into it – I’m sure it’s going to be great! (as all of her books are! :D)

This is the sequel to The Giver, a book that was incredibly impactful when I read it. I’m interested to see how this book will compare to the emotionally-wringing read that The Giver was.

when molly was a harvey girlThis is another book I just randomly found. I like the look of it, and so we’ll see how it turns out… I like historical fiction that deals with the lesser-known parts of history, so this looks like it might be right up my alley! šŸ˜€

Well, that’s my library haul for the week! Now I’m off to read, as I have plenty of reading material to get through… šŸ˜€ Have you read any of these books? Let me know how you enjoyed them in the comments below – I’d love to hear from you! šŸ™‚

  1. You must have had a grand time finding so many good books to read. I’ll be interested to hear how you liked them. Happy you found a Lynn Austin book. Also great you found the rest of the Penderwicks series. Enjoy! Years ago I remembering liking the Janette Oke books. In fact I believe I have several here waiting for you to read. šŸ™‚

  2. Ooh, I’m looking forward to hearing what the Helen Keller one is like. I read a wonderful biography along the same lines when I was about 8 or 9, that I loved so much I kept re-borrowing it from the library every couple of months. It’s a wonderful story of patience, persistence and believing that there is hope in a situation that seems hopeless. I hope that comes across in this version, too.

  3. Wow! You are a fast reader, Hannah! You are adding to my reading list.šŸ˜‰ Gathering Blue was not as good as the Giver in my estimation. I think there are two more books in the series. Is that correct? And a movie made of Gathering Blue? Iā€™d love to know how you made the scrolling image feature above. Leave it to a young person to figure out technology.
    See you soon!šŸ’—

    1. Yes, I do have a habit of devouring books uncommonly quickly. I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing though… šŸ˜€ I enjoyed Gathering Blue, though I agree, it’s not as good as The Giver. And I’m not entirely sure how it connected to The Giver in any way… But I’m still interested in reading the other two books – Lois Lowry is a good author! As for the scrolling image feature, it’s an option when you insert pictures in to the blog post. I can show you exactly how I did it if you want when we visit. šŸ™‚
