The Christmas Tag

Greetings one and all! It’s officially ‘counting-down-until-Christmas’ time, and I must admit I’m rather excited. I mean, Christmas is basically the best holiday there is, and what’s not to like about it?! So in honour of Christmas being in 17 days, I’m going to be doing The Christmas Tag! I was tagged by my good friend Bea over at The Treasure Within – thanks Bea!!

The Rules

  1. You must thank the person who nominated you
  2. Link back to the original post (the one on this blog) and use the graphic provided.
  3. Answer the questions given
  4. Nominate at least 3 people. (or more if you’re feeling like a nice person)
  5. Give the nominees 10 questions to answer (or use the ones previously given)
  6. HAVE FUN!

Okey-doke, now that all the official stuff is covered, let’s get onto the tag! 😀

  1. What’s your favourite Christmas tradition? – Probably our tradition for all 6 of us children to pile onto our parents’ bed to open stockings on Christmas morning. It’s become quite a squeeze these past few years as we all are getting older, but still we persevere in doing it! 😀 Ok, by the end of it some of us always end up on the floor – but it’s the intention that counts, right? 😉 It’s such a wonderful, familial way to start off our Christmas and I just love it.
  2. What’s one book your Christmas isn’t complete without? The Candymaker’s Gift is a picture book that has been a part of my Christmas for as long as I can remember. It has beautifully detailed illustrations that tell a wonderful story, and I just love it. I’m definitely buying it for my future children!
  3. Do you have a favourite Christmas decoration? – Hmm, I actually have a few! I’m quite attached to my Christmas decorations. If I had to pick though, I’d either choose a china rocking horse tree decoration that I was given on my first Christmas, or a little china bell with my name on it that was also given to me on my first Christmas. #yesI’msentimental
  4. Ice skating or sledding? – Oooh, I enjoy both those activities! But I’d probably have to go for ice skating. It’s a family tradition for all of us to go ice skating on one of the days leading up to Christmas, and it’s always a hilarious, wonderful time! Sledding rarely happens around Christmas time for me – simply because we rarely have snow around Christmas *cue sobbing*
  5. What is the thing you dislike the most about the Christmas season? – Probably the fact that it goes so fast. Most of the festivities where I’m from don’t start until the beginning of December, and from then you have just under four weeks until it’s all over. I love the Christmas season so much, it just seems a shame that it’s over and done with so quickly!
  6. What’s the best (Christmas) gift you’ve ever received? – Probably a beautiful copy of Anne of Green Gables that I received from my parents in 2013. That was the book that started off my LMM obsession, and I’m so grateful that my parents thought to give me this book!
  7. What are you most excited about this Christmas? – Well, my maternal grandparents are coming over to the UK to spend Christmas with us, and that’s really exciting! We haven’t spent Christmas together for about 10 years – so it’s a pretty big deal!!
  8. When do you start playing Christmas music? Thanksgiving? Christmas Eve? – Ok, to be very honest you could probably find me playing Christmas music at any point during the year. I love Christmas music. 😀 But the point where it starts becoming a staple in my house is probably just after Thanksgiving. It’s like after that we have permission to put away all the Autumnal décor and break out everything Christmasy!! 😀
  9. What is your earliest Christmassy memory? – After wracking my brains, I’ve only come up with a few vague memories of Christmas right after my family moved to England. I must’ve been 3, and I have vague memories of the new house we moved into and the living room where the Christmas tree was. Nothing very exciting I’m afraid. 😀
  10. Cheesiest Christmas movie you’ve ever watched? – Ok, please don’t kill me… but I haven’t watched that many Christmas movies. There are a staple few, but I don’t have the large repertoire that some people have. So I don’t have that large of a selection within which to pick ‘the cheesiest’. Perhaps that honour could go to A Muppet’s Christmas Carol…? I’m not sure it’s exactly cheesy, but certainly rather odd… I guess I didn’t get on with it very well. 😀

And I tag…

  1. How fun, Hannah. Now I know you a bit better!☺️ My favorite part is preparing Christmas Eve dinner, which I’ve simplified recently. I’m not crazy about all the decorations, which seem glitzy and over the top now. But I do like to ponder the Christmas story, and sometimes find a tiny detail enlightening the whole event for me in a fresh way!

  2. Yay! It’s so wonderful to read about your Christmas traditions and memories! I’ll have to check out ‘The Candymaker’s Gift’, and I do wish we got more snow here in the UK!
Oh, and I love that AoGG copy so much – it’s stunning… ❤
