Writing Update + Mini Poem & Other Exciting Things!

Hello there! It’s the end of a beautifully sunny spring day for me… Ah, spring is here and it’s delightful! There are flowers everywhere, the sun is showing its face more and more often, and the whole world seems to be alive and pulsing with new life! It makes me very happy… ๐Ÿ˜€ย

Today I just wanted to chat for a bit about some writing related things… I’ve got some random writerly related updates I’d quite like to share with you!

~

First of allโ€ฆ I would like to announce that I am going to be taking part of NaPoWriMo 2019!! Napo-what?? You might be asking? ๐Ÿ˜€ Well, let me explain… That rather strange sounding word is short for National Poetry Writing Month. During the entire month of April, poets from all around the world endeavour to write a poem a day – that’s 30 poems by the end of the month.

I’m quiet excited to be embarking on this little adventure, as I’ve never challenged myself in this way before and I do think it will be good for me. I have quite a competitive streak in me, and so I’m hoping that that will come through for me as I try and write 30 poems in 30 days. It can’t be that hard… right? ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m hoping that this slightly enforced writing goal will help my inspiration juices to start flowing liberally – something that I feel has not happened in a while… And I’ve already got a word document full of writing prompts, plus a notes list on my phone with poetry ideas jotted down. Hopefully, armed with a computer/notebook & large quantities of writing prompts, I’ll be able to achieve this goal! And every Saturday I’ll be sharing with you updates on how the challenge is going + one of my favourite poems that I’ve written during the week – at least that’s my thinking as of now. I’m excited to share this fun challenge with you all next month!ย

Another thing that I’m currently excited about is the fact that I’m on a book launch team for an author who is a good family friend!ย Her book is called The Heart Changer, and it comes out on April 26th. I’m currently reading an ARC (advanced reader’s copy) and loving it! I don’t want to give away too much of the story, as I’ll have a full review coming out when the book is released. But suffice it to say, it consists of some of my favourite things… middle grade, historical fiction, based on a Bible story… I’m super excited to share more with you when the time comes, but I thought I’d just share a little teaser now to whet your appetites. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Trust me, you won’t want to miss this!ย

Another thing that I just realized as I was writing, is that this post is my 100th blog post on The Way of Delight!! Wow – that’s crazy! I don’t think that I could’ve ever imagined getting to the grand total of 100 posts when I first started this little blog in May 2017! My, how it has grown… ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s coming up on its two year anniversary, it’s creeping up on 200 followers, and now it’s just hit 100 posts! I’m slightly mind boggled at that number – but ah how wonderful it’s been! I’ve absolutely loved sharing my writing and my thoughts on books and everything else with all my readers on here. So… *throws confetti* Thank you for following along with my writing journey on this blog! I’m so grateful for all of your support and encouragement! Here’s to the next 100 posts! *raises glass*

And now, just to wrap up this rather random post, I thought I would share with you a little mini (nameless!) poem that I found tucked away in my journal recently… I wrote it on a bike ride home after an afternoon at work. Inspiration can come at the most unexpected times…!ย

In the dark of moon and shadow

I fly

Down twisted streets

Wondering as I wander

Why home seems so far

Away

~

Aaaand, that wraps up today’s post…. Thanks for reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you have anything exciting coming up next month? Have you ever heard/participated in NaPoWriMo? Let’s chat in the comments!

  1. Congrats, Hannah. . .thatโ€™s a ton of posts! And Iโ€™ve never heard of NaPoWriMo. Good for you. . . the motivation it fosters will amaze you. I wrote a 50,000 word novel in 2016 with NaNoWriMo. I loved it. I know you can do it. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปโ˜บ๏ธ And how sweet of you to mention The Heart Changer.๐Ÿ’— Thanks!
