Poem – I’m Not Afraid

Wow, what a week it has been. I don’t really know how to sum it up… It’s been a week full of sunshine and goodbyes, rest and stress, sleeping and working, laughter and tears, late night baking and even later night conversations. It’s been a week that I’ve had to take one day at a time. But I’ve survived! God is so good even when it seems that everything else is falling apart. He gives grace and strength to those who are His, and I’m so grateful for it!

When I was trying to figure out what I wanted to share today, I stumbled upon this wee little poem that I wrote almost a year ago. I didn’t realize then just how relevant it would be at this moment! I think that God directed me towards this poem in a very timely manner – it encouraged my heart, and I pray it encourages yours as well!

~

I’m not afraid
Of the darkness of night –
For I know the One who made the light.

I’m not afraid
Of the darkness of death –
I’m held by the One who counts my every breath.

I’m not afraid
Of what man can do to me –
I’m loved by the One who has set me free.

There is no more need for fear,
I know that my Father is near.
He is holding my weak frame fast
And will bring me home safe at last.

~

Fix your eyes on the One who casts all the shadows of fear aside with the light of His peace. He is holding us tightly and we can trust in Him. I pray that you will know this in your hearts and lives this upcoming week!

  1. Yes, your poem is very timely, Hannah. Good and true thoughts to encourage and strengthen our faith in the One who holds us in the palm of His hand – always! Isa. 40:9,11 NLT
